$350,000 award, including $250,000 in mental anguish and $100,000 in punitive damages for the doctor's gross negligence. The doctor failed to perform a tubal ligation and then did not tell the patient, resulting in her becoming pregnant. The patient was a high risk for pregnancy-related problems, so she aborted the pregnancy under the previous, more lenient law of Roe v. Wade. The court of appeals has reversed the award and we will be petitioning the Texas Supreme Court to reinstate the verdict and trial court judgment.
